scheduling time

Well, I'm starting to slowly fill my week with things to do. Wednesdays I go hang out with KlrWombat in the evening and fiddle around on the ham radio with him. It's actually really cool. The analogy that I give people is: When I was in 5th grade, we would fill out postcards with return addresses and tie them to helium balloons. Then it was a contest to see who's came back first, who's traveled the farthest, etc... Ham radio seems sorta like that to me, but with all the historical charm of 1800's telegraphs clear through sending text as binary so that it sounds like astronomical telemetry from some space movie. So I have that as a new hobby.

I've finally started spinning the wool/silk blend roving. I'm almost done with the socks I started after the Mad About Ewe trip. They're rose and periwinkle stripes out of a wool/mohair in single ply. It's really cool yarn. I guess my color choice is a little suspect, but overall, I think they're coming out well.

Mixed in with the spinning and knitting, I've also  found a site that has some AWESOME information about finger loop braiding. I'm anxious to try out some of the new patterns. I've also started another dress. This one isn't exactly right for 1500's Venice Italy, but it's a good general pattern. I'm thinking once I'm done sewing it together, I might work on it over time doing period embellishments such as couching, beading, and embroidery.

I've had the chance to hang out with Alló a couple times, including today. It was nice. Tomorrow evening we're going to Aurora's for the first monthly meeting of the Central PA Arts and Crafts Tinkerers. I don't know that we're going to actually name ourselves that, or anything, really, but we talked about meeting once a month just to work on projects or learn something new and socialize. I'm really psyched. I hope this turns into something good.... =-)

Over all, I'm doing ok. Things have been pretty tight this month. We are low on food. Really low. Thankfully, Rykujin's assistances comes tomorrow so we can go grocery shopping in the afternoon.
